Passing The Peace: The cold and flu season is in full swing, please be aware that friends with depressed immune systems may welcome a greeting of a warm smile, a pat on the shoulder, etc., rather than a handshake or a hug.  Please be attentive as you share the loving hospitality of Christ’s peace with each other.

The Lay Academy presents a new study series, “The Spiritual Brain: Science and Religious Experience”, consisting of 24 lectures on DVD, by Dr. Andrew Newberg, Director of Research and Professor at Thomas Jefferson University.  Sojourners Sunday School Class is hosting and everyone is invited to attend, every Sunday morning 9:15 a.m. in Room 411 in the Education Building. Dr. George Keller is host teacher and Bob Newman is consultant. The topic this Sunday, is “Why Do We Have a Spiritual Brain?” Please join us.

The Cents-Ability Offering is received next Sunday: During these frigid days and the cold months of winter, our thoughts turn to those who are homeless.  We cringe when we see a homeless person on a cold snowy night and pray that they have somewhere to go for shelter.  We also hope that the person has a way of getting a warm meal, but the truth is that many homeless people live on cans of cold food.  Did you know that the Covenant House Food Pantry provides a can opener to people who are homeless and have no way of opening a can of food.  Cents-Ability originated in 1976 as “Two-Cents-A-Meal,” a project begun by Presbyterian Women to involve individuals and families in a corporate response to world hunger. Cents-Ability is a small first step in the battle against hunger and poverty. Together we can help local organizations help those who need it the most.
