Welcome to First Presby
All are welcome at First Presbyterian Church!
First Presbyterian Church is a welcoming home, a beacon of Christ’s light arising from inspiring worship and loving discipleship.
The church is called to recognize the humanity of all who suffer. The church is called to respond by ministering to their needs, ending their humiliation, and participating in their lives. In this way, the church is called to witness to God’s power to restore people, and redeem lives.
Worship is central to our life together, and all we do in the life of the church must be a faithful response to God – who encounters us in worship, and through our lives. Having experienced what amazing things can be done in the name of Jesus Christ, when people are united in ministry, I am seeking a call to a congregation, where we may use our God given talents, together, as we seek to “Glorify God, And Enjoy God Forever.” – Pastor Myers
First Presby Preschool
First Presbyterian Church Preschool celebrates 75 years of high-quality education. We currently serve ages 1-5 through the use of Creative Curriculum: Educating children to be creative, independent, and caring individuals.
In 2021, our facility underwent a renovation to the building, updating spaces, and adding additional preschool spaces and extensive security features.

Upcoming Events
Helene made landfall in Florida late evening on September 26th as a very dangerous category 4 hurricane. The impact of Helene has been felt across multiple states. With the storm surge, wind damage, and flooding, it is crucial to have the necessary resources to support the many communities that are affected. Helene caused devastating damage in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Your generous gifts will bring hope and encouragement. You can click on the image to the right to donate online or write a check to First Presbyterian Church with “PDA Hurricane Helene” in the memo.
First Presbyterian Church awarded grants to 19 non-profit organizations that are dedicated to making a difference in our community and beyond. To celebrate them, First Presbyterian Church of Charleston invites you to Celebrate the People of West Virginia. The evening will include special guest speakers, Marshall University Chief Legal Officer Tony Stroud, James Beard Award Winner Chef Paul Smith, and WV State University President Ericke Cage, as well as the 2024 First Presbyterian Church Mission Grant recipients.
