Sunday School and Sunday Childcare 2017-10-31T10:31:39-04:00

We strive to maintain a safe and comfortable space for your little ones. All volunteers, teachers, and aides undergo a background safety check and training. They choose to offer their gifts in this ministry because they love children. In this way, we fulfill our baptismal vows taken to nurture and grow each child’s faith in our church family.

Sunday School 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.

Preschool and Kindergarten Sunday School, Room E-112

Teachers: Emily Hopta & Tish Chafin

We learn about God through creative, interactive centers specially designed for this age group.

Elementary  Sunday School (Godly Play), Chapel

Teachers: Barb Hopta, Sallie Daugherty, & Janet Chambers

After meeting and having a special time in the chapel, children grades 1-5, travel to the Godly Play Room E-306. In this loving atmosphere, children learn about God and His Love. They are guided by teachers who are guided by Christ to teach us how to embrace what we learn during church.  Parents pick up their children up in E-306 at 10:15 in time for the Worship service.

On the first Sunday of each month, after chapel time, the children travel to the Dining Room to make approximately 200 sandwiches and deliver them to Manna Meal at St. John’s Episcopal Church, one block away.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Janet Chambers, 304-343-8961, or janet@firstpresby.com.

Toddlers

Children 1-2 years and walking are cared for in the Toddler Room, E-108.

Preschool

Children 3-5 years are cared for in Room E-112.

Elementary

Children grades 1-5 are encouraged to remain in  the Worship service with their parents to learn about Jesus and how to worship. However, an optional Bible Study is offered in Room E-113 following “The Time For Young Disciples” until the end of the service. Children are escorted from the sanctuary by leaders for this Bible Study and are picked up by parents at the end of the service in Room E-113.

Please be sure to sign your children into their correct classroom and provide us with your contact information. Our main goal, in addition to teaching your children about Christ, is keeping them safe. Help us do this by making use of the sign in sheets provided outside of the classrooms.
