First Presbyterian Church, under Linda Elliotts’ coordination, was recognized as the top seller for the Equal Exchange Interfaith Program in 2024. “A deep heartfelt thank you to Linda (Elliot), an Extraordinary Coordinator, and to the members of the First Presbyterian Church of Charleston, West Virginia.” By purchasing organically grown, ethically sourced and fairly traded products from Equal Exchange, we are supporting small farming communities all over the world and helping build a more just food system.

The Hope and Justice Fair Trade Market offers a special link between congregations and communities around the world. Churches can now reach out to neighbors overseas not only with the prayers and offerings we give, but with the goods and products we purchase. A warm cup of coffee (or tea) in our hands is perhaps the most tangible daily connection we have with farmers around the world. It represents warmth, hospitality, fellowship, hard work and life’s pleasures both fine and simple.

Linda Elliot leads this mission in our congregation, and her tremendous efforts make a tremendous impact. First Presbyterian Church is the leading distributor of the Hope and Justice Fair-Trade Market items in the nation!

First Presby has a little shop behind the sanctuary. You are welcome to stop by during office hours and shop! Just say “Hi!” at the front office to get a key and we can accept check or cash.
