The Cents-Ability Offering is Received Today: The Bishop of Assisi once said to St. Francis, “I think your life is too hard, too rough. You don’t possess anything in this world.”  Francis replies, “My Lord, if we had possessions, we would need weapons to defend them.”  The Bible tells us not to store up treasures that are perishable, but to store up treasures that cannot rot or be stolen.  The people in Jesus’ day understood this heavenly treasure to mean caring for the needy.   What kind of treasures are you storing up?  Are you willing to give a bit of your treasure to the Cents-Ability Offering?  Prayerfully consider how you might be wiling to give.

Lay Academy continues to study SCIENCE & RELIGION, today at 5:30 p.m., in Room A201 in the Activities Building.  Dr. Andrew Newberg’s topic (DVD)  “Religion and Health”, reports on extensive scientific research that shows clear, distinctive correlation between Spiritual experience/practices and overall health. Heart Disease, Lung Disease, Liver Disease, and Suicide show strong correlation between Religious practice and cure. Not so with cancer, however. He stresses that much more, continued research needs to be done, but these initial studies are positive and promising. Everyone is welcome to join us for these learning opportunities.  Bring a friend or neighbor.  For more information, please call the Church Office, (304) 343-8961.

Manna Meal Sandwich Making Next Sunday:  The Elementary Sunday School Children will be making 200 sandwiches next Sunday during the Sunday School Hour.  Adults are always welcome to help with this project and to help deliver the sandwiches and fruit to Manna Meal.  Meet in the chapel at 9:15 a.m.

Act of Faith: We are reminded that all we have comes from God.  Please remember to name the First Presbyterian Church as a beneficiary of your will, your retirement plan or of a life insurance policy in order that we may carry out God’s wishes and continue his work in our community and in the world.

Food Pantry Needs: Cereal and Toilet Paper

Restroom Updates: The men’s restroom on the first floor of the Education Building has been completely remodeled, as well as, both the men and women’s restrooms on the second floor  in the Activities Building.  Check them out! Also be aware to not turn off the light when leaving these new restrooms, as they have automatic timed turn off switches.

Youth: The Youth Group will continue to meet at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays during the summer. We will also continue Sunday evening Youth Group throughout the summer.  Questions?  Contact Payne Warner.

Equal Exchange Products: Coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolates, raisins, and nuts continue to be available for purchase after worship and during the week during church business hours.

Mark Your Calendar: First Presby will join with several other churches for Vacation Bible School, scheduled to be held in the Activities Building, Monday, June 6 – Thursday, June 9.

Thanks to Our Child Care Volunteers today in our nursery, toddler and preschool rooms. All child care rooms are equipped with live video feeds of the worship service. Do you love children and babies? Call the church office, 304-343-8961, to volunteer in this special ministry.

Electronic Giving: Did you know that we can easily set-up a recurring gift to the church directly from your checking or savings account?  This can easily be done on our church website. Also you can offer your financial gift to God electronically by scanning  the QR code on the laminated card in the pew racks. These cards can also be placed in the offering plate as a sign of your faith and trust in God, if you already give electronically through your checking account or credit card.
