EASTER SUNDAY

Next Week’s Sermon  is “Something Bigger than Our Imaginations”, given by Jim Roberts.

Welcome: We welcome Alanna Jo Slack who joined our congregation on March 20.

One Great Hour of Sharing Offering is Received Today: SO MUCH ACCOMPLISHED, STILL SO MUCH TO DO:  Around the world, people lack access to food, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity.  Each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) serves to help change the lives of people in these challenging situations.  This Offering provides us a way to share God’s love with our neighbors in need.  One Great Hour of Sharing makes a difference in the world through: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, which works within communities as they recover and find hope after the devastation of natural or human-caused disasters, Presbyterian Hunger Program, which takes action to alleviate hunger and its systemic causes, and helps create access to healthy food for entire communities, and Self-Development of People which partners with people and communities with tools for development and education to alleviate poverty, oppression, and injustice.  Your giving accomplishes so much!  Please give generously as there is still so much to do.

Lay Academy will not meet today, Easter Sunday. The next Class will be on Sunday, April 3, 5:30 p.m., in Room 201 in the Activity Building, when Dr. Newberg’s lecture topic will be “The Myth-Making Brain.”  We hope to see everyone then for more learning.  May your holidays be appropriately Holy. Soli Deo Gloria!

Church Tour: Week in and week out, the halls of First Presby buzz with people. We all know where the sanctuary is or where the chapel is, but how well do we really know the buildings that we call our church home? We will be having a church tour for all members, new or old. Join us on April 10, at 9:15 a.m. We will meet in the Ruffner Room and embark on our journey from there! We hope to see you there and to learn more about our church together!

Restroom Updates: The men’s restroom on the first floor of the Education Building has been completely remodeled, as well as, both the men and women’s restrooms on the second floor  in the Activity Building.  Check them out! Also be aware to not turn off the light when leaving these new restrooms, as they have automatic  timed turn off switches.

Come Sing “Hallelujah” With Us!  At the end of the service this morning, you are invited to bring your music insert with you and join the choir on the chancel for our annual singing of G.F. Handel’s “Hallelujah” chorus.  To help you find your section, those with high voices (sopranos and tenors) will wear white stoles at their collars.  Low voices (altos and basses) will wear gold stoles at their collars.  Hallelujah!!!

Food Pantry Needs: Cereal & Peanut Butter

Thank You: The Easter Celebration on Palm Sunday was wonderful! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this wonderful afternoon such a success.

Manna Meal Sandwich Making Next Sunday:  The Elementary Sunday School Children (former Covenant Kids) will be making 200 sandwiches next Sunday during the Sunday School Hour.  Adults are always welcome to help with this project and to help deliver the sandwiches and fruit to Manna Meal.  Meet in the chapel at 9:15 a.m

Thanks to Our Child Care Volunteers today in our nursery, toddler and preschool rooms. All child care rooms are equipped with live video feeds of the worship service. Do you love children and babies? Call the church office,304-343-8961, to volunteer in this special ministry.

Act of Faith: We are reminded that all we have comes from God.  Please remember to name the First Presbyterian Church as a beneficiary of your will, your retirement plan or of a life insurance policy in order that we may carry out God’s wishes and continue his work in our community and in the world.

Benfield-Vick Weekend: Mark the weekend of April 16-17 on your calendar. Stan Ott will be our guest speaker for Saturday and Sunday.
