The cross on the chancel is made from three Christmas trees. It symbolizes the connection between cradle and cross as we celebrate the gift of God’s Son and His sacrifice for our salvation.

Sympathy of the Congregation is extended to Danny Jones on the death of his brother, Laurance, February 26.

Lenten Memorials: Envelopes are in the pew racks for contributions to our Worship Memorial Fund in honor or memory of loved ones. Names will be printed in a special insert for the Easter worship bulletins. The deadline for submission is March 20. These Lenten Memorials are given to enrich worship at the church.

It’s Charleston Trash Bag pick-up time again. If you have more bags than you can use, please donate them to the church. Each year we save over $700 by using your donated bags. Thank you!

Manna Meal Sandwich Making: The Elementary Sunday School Children (former Covenant Kids) will make 200 sandwiches this Sunday during the Sunday School hour with adult helpers. The sandwiches along with fruit will be delivered to Manna Meal.Meet in the Chapel at 9:15a.m.

Lay Academy meets this Sunday at 5:30 p.m., in Room A201 in the Activity Building. Dr. Andrew Newberg’s topic is “Atheists, Agnostics, and other Non-Believers.” How can Science help us better to understand people who are Religious/Spiritual and people who are not? How is genetics involved? Everyone welcome. Come and join our lively discussions and learn how Science and Religion, or Non-Religion, need each other and can work together for the common good. Festival of Faith: Mark your calendar for the Festival of Faith on Saturday, April 2, here at First Presby. The Keynote Speaker will be Heath Rada, Moderator of the 221st General Assembly. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Complete workshop information can be found at www.wvpresbytery.org.

Stephen Ministry: First Presby is hosting a Stephen Ministry Introductory Workshop from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on March 12 in the dining room. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the cost is $15 per person or $50 per congregation with four or more participants. Anyone desiring to be an active listener and how to reach out to others in a Christian way are encouraged to attend. Develop grief ministry skills you can use right away. Correction: Presbyterian Bible Study Circle Meeting places in the March Newsletter were incorrect for the Rebecca Circle which will meet in A201, on March 9 and Mary Circle which will meet at Edgewood Summit, on March 10.

Food Pantry Needs: Canned Meats (tuna, chicken, etc)

Clothing Closet currently needs the following: Men’s underwear, sizes 28-30, 30-32, 32-34, 34-36;  Men’s shoes (all sizes, big need for size 12-14); Men’s jeans – 30-50 waist sizes; Women’s underwear, sizes 5-6; Women’s dresses; Women’s shoes. The Clothing Closet is located at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Washington Street across from the main Post Office.  Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.

Easter Egg Hunt: We need small wrapped candy to fill plastic Easter eggs! (NO PEANUTS). We will be filling a  lot of eggs for the children’s big Egg Hunt. You can bring your candy to the Christian Education office or the main church office. Thank you so much for helping.

DAYMARK’S Gala, entitled “A Night In Emerald City” is set for Saturday, March 19 at Berry Hills Country Club – and you don’t want to miss being a part of this fun event.  For more than forty years, DAYMARK has been serving at-risk and runaway youth in our community, providing them with a safe place to live, counseling, nurture, meals and direction, enabling them to lead healthy and productive lives.  The DAYMARK ministry, which was started by several First Presby members, needs our continued support and you can do just that by going to a fun party!  DAYMARK Board Members will be on hand after worship today to answer questions or sell you tickets.

Cents-Ability: Your Cents-Ability Gift Makes A Difference!  $674.00 was received last Sunday, February 28, for the Cents-Ability Offering.  Of this amount, ½ goes to the Presbytery, ¼ is given to the General Assembly of PC (USA) and ¼ goes to the Covenant House Food Pantry.  All funds are used to provide hunger relief on a local, national and global level.  Your generosity is providing much needed support for many people.

Electronic Giving: Did you know that we can easily set-up a recurring gift to the church directly from your checking or savings account? This can easily be done on our church website. Also you can offer your financial gift to God electronically by scanning the QR code on the laminated card in the pew racks. These cards can also be placed in the offering plate as a sign of your faith and trust in God, if you already give electronically through your checking account or credit card.
Equal Exchange Products: Coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolates, raisins, trail mix, and nuts continue to be available for purchase after worship and during the week during church business hours.
