As the 2008-09 CCRA Basketball season ended, the First Presbyterian Church's teams had a good year. At the annual basketball dinner, all participants and their coaches were recognized for their efforts. Our High School Girls and Middle School Boys finished the season ending tournament in second place. We had three elementary boys who were combined with the St. Matthews team and they went on to win the tournament. Congratulations to Michael Susman, George Battle, and Alex Arbogast for a job well done! Our K-2 program was a huge success with all the boys and girls developing basketball and social skills under the supervision of Head Coach Kurt Suter, Assistant Coaches Jarrett Walker and Zach Griffith and Adult Coach, Beth Suter. Thanks for all your gifts of time and energy to our future basketball players!!!!
Two seniors were honored by being selected as co-recipients of the Christian Athlete of the Year presentation. Congratulations to Emma Moredock and Michelle Raney for providing their leadership skills in sports and Christian life through the First Presbyterian Church.
Remember that youth and children desiring to play basketball next year need to be regular attendees at worship and/or Sunday School all the time, not just during the playing season. Registration for 09-10 will commence in September. Watch your August mail for more information.
As Adult Volleyball nears the end of its season and tournament time looms, our men's team is holding steady in 6th place. Our women's team has a tight hold on first place. Men's games are each Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist while the women play each Sunday at First Presby.
