The Covenant House Food Pantry has seen a dramatic increase in customers this summer. URGENT NEEDS THIS WEEK: Food Pantry – Cereal and Peanut butter; Clothing Closet – summer clothes.
The Gideons International Offering will be received next Sunday, July 11. A non-profit organization, The Gideons International is supported by individuals and churches who realize that an indispensable element in winning people to Christ is to present them with the gospel message. Every dollar contributed is used to make it possible for others to have their very own copy of God’s Word. Please consider how you will give to this offering.
Urgent Needs Offering will be received on July 18. Due to the tremendous needs right here in our own community, the Urgent Needs offering is received twice a year at First Presby. A portion of the Urgent Needs Offering goes directly the Emergency Assistance Program operated by Covenant House to be able to provide rent, utilities, travel, medicine, clothing or food for people in the Kanawha Valley who are in a crisis situation. The other portion allows First Presby to provide Charleston Housing rental assistance for people that Covenant House refers to us. In 2009 there was a 51% increase in the number of people who received Urgent Needs funds – please give generously.
